About Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home

Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home is a Dignity Memorial funeral home at 11800 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring, tracing its history to 1873. Its page says it is the only Maryland funeral home contracted for Jewish funerals by the Jewish Funeral Practices Committee of Greater Washington, and that it has private facilities for tahara and shmira. Under that contract a complete traditional Jewish funeral — removal, refrigeration, an all-wood pine casket, use of the premises for tahara and shmira, tachrichim and transport to a cemetery within 40 miles — was $3,010 for July 2022–June 2023, rising at least 5% a year (ask for the current contract price); the chapel, a limousine and a concrete outer container are extra. Its general price list's immediate burial — no ceremony, not including a casket or cemetery charges — was $5,970 in 2023; the committee contract is the lower-cost route for members of participating congregations.
