Editorial standards

An independent reference,
not a directory

EverJewish documents Jewish funeral homes and Jewish cemeteries across the United States — 1,207 cemeteries and 110 funeral homes so far, city by city. For each one we record what has been publicly confirmed, what the provider has verified directly, and what is still unknown. We don't rank, recommend, or sell anything to families.

How Records Are Compiled
Public review first. We review each provider's own public materials — their website, their published policies — and record only what those sources actually say.
Every fact carries its provenance. "From website" with a review date, "Verified" when the provider has confirmed it directly, or "Not found" when public materials are silent. We never fill gaps with guesses.
What counts as a source. The operator's own page — the cemetery, the shul, the chevra kadisha, or burial society that runs it. General directories, review sites, and grave-index sites can point us to a cemetery, but never confirm one.
Unknowns stay visible. Every listing shows its open questions — the things families commonly ask that public materials don't answer — so you know what to ask before you call.
What the Category Labels Mean

Categories describe the documented scope of Jewish service. They are not rankings, not quality judgments, and cannot be changed by paying.

DedicatedPublicly describes itself as serving Jewish families exclusively.
ExperiencedGeneral funeral home with documented Jewish capabilities — tahara, shomer, kosher caskets.
AccommodatingIndicates willingness to serve Jewish families, with limited documented Jewish-specific capability.
LimitedListed as serving the area, with minimal Jewish-specific information found publicly.
UnknownPublic materials could not yet be reviewed.

Cemetery listings work similarly: a full record means we've documented the details from the operator's own materials; a factual record means the cemetery is on record but plot availability has not yet been confirmed — and the page says so plainly.

Independence — What We Will Not Do
No rankings, no preferred placement, no sponsored listings.
No pay-to-appear. Verification never changes an assessment or a category label.
No referral fees and no lead resale. When you contact a provider, you contact them directly.
No selling family information. Ever. What you tell our guide is not stored and never shared with providers.
Corrections are always free — for anyone, claimed or not. Corrections and verification are separate things.
Who is behind EverJewish

EverJewish was founded by Rabbi Yosef Buchman, who serves as its rabbi and researcher: writing to cemetery offices, confirming facts on the ground, and answering the questions families send in. Research, editorial review and engineering are done in-house, and every record is reviewed personally before it is published.

If EverJewish documents your funeral home or cemetery, you can claim your listing to confirm facts, publish a statement and photos, and answer the questions families ask. Every claim is verified personally before anything changes on a page. Spot an error? Corrections are free, whether or not you claim.
