Privacy Policy

The short version

EverJewish never sells, rents, or pools family information, and never shares it with any funeral home or cemetery except the one you yourself choose to write to. Browsing the site requires no account and no signup. We use ordinary analytics and, for advertising measurement, the Meta pixel — described below, with a one-click opt-out. The site is published by EverJewish LLC.

Visiting the site

Like most websites, EverJewish records ordinary server logs and uses Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, which pages are read and how people arrive — from a search engine, an AI assistant, or a link. IP addresses are anonymized before Google stores them. We also use Google Ads to measure whether one of our ads led to a visit or a call. Google's advertising features (remarketing) are switched on only for visitors outside the states that require opt-in consent who have not opted out; for everyone else they stay off. To count how often a listing's phone number, website or directions are used, the page also sends a small anonymous signal to our own server with a random per-visit code that expires when you close the tab; it carries no name, email, or precise location.

Advertising measurement (Meta pixel)

To help cemeteries and funeral homes reach the families who are looking for them, EverJewish uses the Meta (Facebook and Instagram) pixel to measure whether an ad led to a visit or a call, and to show ads to people who have read a listing. The pixel receives the pages you view and the fact that you tapped a phone number, a funeral home's card, or sent a planning-ahead question, together with Meta's own browser identifiers. It never receives your name, email, phone number, or the text of a question. We do not use Meta's "advanced matching," and we never sell family information. The pixel does not load if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, if you are visiting from a state whose law requires opt-in consent for this kind of measurement, or if you have opted out here: Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.

Calls and text messages

The phone numbers on our burial-line pages and in our ads are EverJewish lines. Calls and texts are handled by our phone provider (Twilio), and some calls may be answered by an automated assistant that says so at the start of the call. Calls may be recorded, and you will hear that before the call connects. We keep the calling number, the time, and any recording or voicemail so we can call you back, connect you with a Jewish funeral home or cemetery, and see which of our ads bring calls. When you ask us to connect you, your call is passed to the funeral home or cemetery you need, and to nobody else. If you ask us to call you back from one of our burial-line pages, we keep the name, number, town and note you give us so we can call you back, and use them for nothing else.

Text messages. EverJewish LLC sends text messages only to people who have called or texted us first, or who asked us during a call to text them (including a funeral home staff member who chooses, on our call about a family's request, to receive the registration link by text and gives us a cell number), and only about their own inquiry — a reply to a missed call, the name and number of a Jewish funeral home or cemetery serving their area, or an answer to their question. We do not send marketing texts. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. Mobile numbers are shared only with the providers that deliver the messages (CallRail and the phone carriers), and only to deliver them.

SMS data. If you agree to receive texts, we keep your mobile number, the date and way you agreed, and the messages we exchange, and use them only to send the messages you asked for and to honor STOP requests. We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Our phone and text providers process this data only to deliver the messages.

Calls to cemetery offices. When a family asks us to find out about a cemetery, our automated assistant may call the office for them; it says it is automated and that the call is recorded. If an office would rather speak with the family directly, the family can call it from their EverJewish page: we ring the family's phone first and connect the call through an EverJewish line, and both sides hear that the call is recorded before they talk. We keep the recording and a transcript privately, for the family and our team, and delete the recording after 90 days. What an office says about the cemetery itself (availability, prices, rules, visiting times) may be kept with its date and used to answer other families asking about the same cemetery. The family's own name, contact details and circumstances are never shared with anyone else. We never publish recordings or transcripts, and prices an office gives by phone are not posted on public pages.

Using your location

If you press "Use my location," your browser asks your permission and passes your approximate coordinates to our server once, to find cemeteries near you. They are used for that search and are not stored.

Asking a cemetery or funeral home a question

When you use "Ask a question" on a listing, your message, name and email go to that provider's office and to nobody else. We keep a copy so that if the office has not replied within two days we can send you its phone number and follow up on your behalf, and so we can tell whether offices answer families. We never forward your message to another provider, and providers never receive a list of who has asked.

The guide

The plain-language guide on city pages reads the documented records for your area to answer what you type. What you write is used to produce that answer and is not kept on file or shared with any provider.

Corrections, claims and verification

If you submit a correction or claim a listing, we keep what you send so we can act on it and reply. A provider who verifies a listing gives us a work email. Any payment details are handled by Stripe; we never see or store card numbers. Correction and verification records are kept as part of the editorial history of each listing.

Email

We write to cemetery and funeral home offices about their own listings, and to people who have written to us. Every message we send to a provider carries a one-click way to stop hearing from us. We do not send marketing email to families.

Cookies

The site works without cookies. The cookies we set ourselves record two choices only: keeping our own staff's visits out of the visitor figures, and your opt-out from advertising measurement. A comparison list you build is stored in your own browser and never sent to us. Google Analytics and the Meta pixel set their own cookies when they load.

Who we share information with

Only the companies that run the site on our behalf — Cloudflare (hosting), Google (analytics and ad measurement), Meta (advertising measurement, as described above), Twilio (our phone line and text messages), ElevenLabs (our automated phone assistant), Resend (email delivery) and Stripe (payments) — each of them under its own privacy terms and only to provide that service. We disclose information otherwise only when the law requires it.

Your choices

To see, correct, or delete anything you have sent us, write to us through the contact page and we will do it. Providers can ask us to stop writing to them at any time using the link in any message.

Children

EverJewish is written for adults making arrangements and does not knowingly collect information from children.
