EverJewish

Free for families.
Supported by sponsors.

EverJewish is free to use and free to be listed in. This page explains where our funding comes from and how the record stays independent.

Our model

EverJewish publishes a Jewish burial guide for each metro area: the web pages, a printed booklet, and the burial line families can call for help finding a funeral home or cemetery. Families use the guide at no cost. Every Jewish cemetery and funeral home in the area is listed at no cost, with its own contact details. The guides are funded by sponsors and by community partners.

Sponsorship

A Jewish funeral home or cemetery serving an area may sponsor that area's guide. Sponsorship is a fixed monthly fee for the area, and sponsors are identified wherever they appear: the sponsor's card — name, photo and a Call button — appears first on the area's guide, town and cemetery pages and is marked “Sponsored”; the sponsor's entry appears first in the printed booklet, marked the same way; and when a family calls the burial line, the sponsor is named first among the funeral homes serving the caller's town and identified as the sponsor. Each area has one sponsor. Sponsors receive a monthly report on the guide's use: visits, calls to the line, and the number of families given their name.

Editorial independence

Sponsorship is advertising, and it is kept separate from the record itself.

  • Every Jewish cemetery and funeral home in an area is listed, with its own phone number, regardless of sponsorship.
  • Listing content comes from public records and from what each office confirms directly; each page states its sources. Sponsorship does not alter a listing's facts, assessment or category.
  • The burial line names the Jewish funeral homes serving the caller's town, nearest first, and connects the family to the one they choose.
  • Sponsorship fees are fixed in advance and do not vary with the number of families, calls, plots or funerals. EverJewish does not accept referral fees or commissions, in keeping with state laws governing funeral and cemetery referrals (including New York Public Health Law § 3450 and Not-for-Profit Corporation Law § 1513).

Community partners

Jewish Federations and cemetery associations may partner with EverJewish to complete and maintain their community's guide: a flat annual partnership, set in advance for the term and priced by the number of cemeteries in the community, under which every cemetery in the region is documented and confirmed and the guide carries the Federation's name as a community resource. Donors may complete a community's record with a one-time gift, dedicated in memory.

Community guides carry no commercial sponsorship

Guides published with a Federation's name — its community pages, the embed on its website, and its printed community guide — carry no commercial sponsor; the Federation is the only sponsor identified. Cemetery sponsorship within a Federation-partnered region requires the Federation's agreement. Commercial sponsorship appears only on EverJewish's own metro pages, metro booklets and burial line.
